Kristen & Caydens Canmore, Alberta Elopement

In the heart of the Canadian Rockies, nestled in Canmore, Alberta, Kristen and Cayden had a non-traditional approach to their day and wanted to best of both worlds.

Unlike the traditional whirlwind of a wedding day, they opted for a multi-day elopement, having one day dedicated to an intimate ceremony and celebration with family and friends and another day dedicated to adventuring in the mountains and sharing their private vows.

Day One: The Intimate Ceremony

Kristen and Cayden chose to begin their celebration with a small, intimate ceremony and The Bear & Bison Inn.

Surrounded by their dearest family and friends, in a cozy setting, exchanging traditional vows yet saving their personal vows for just the two of them the following day. This meant a lot to them as it was very sacred and not something they wanted to share in front of others yet still wanted tangible memories to remember them forever.

Day Two: The Sunset Adventure

Canmore provides the perfect backdrop with minimal tourists, compared to Banff. I love living here for a reason. You still get the breath taking, intimate locations minus the insane hustle and bustle.

We set off on a sunset journey, visiting three distinct locations. Although we weren’t given a clear and warm toned sunset, we got a moody evening with one and off rain which was honestly such a mood.

Despite the rain pouring down during their vows, Kristen and Cayden's spirits remained undampened and they kept on pouring their hearts out and laughing their whole way through, even though the words on the paper started melting lol!

Utilizing Surroundings

Kristen and Cayden are the epitome of a goofy and fun-loving couple who were down for anything and just wanted to get some fun, creative shots and have a relaxing evening.

We think it’s important to use what you can from your surroundings and think outside of the box. Not only using the beautiful mountain backdrops that the Rockies offer, but also adding a fun twist on things.

To add a touch of whimsy, we got creative with lanterns and lit-up umbrellas on a quiet road up Spray Lakes to add something different to their gallery. This is something we love doing with each session if given the opportunity.

Non Traditional? No Problem

This multi-day elopement blog was to show you an example of ‘no one-size-fits-all’ when it comes to celebrating love.
